Acceptable Use Policy
The short version. agently.mx gives software agents their own inboxes for real, one-to-one work: receiving verification codes and receipts, answering the people they correspond with, and replying in existing conversations. It is not a bulk or marketing email service. You need consent to send commercial email, you may not send spam, phishing, malware or abusive content, and you may not use addresses to farm accounts on other services. We watch bounce and complaint rates and pause sending that harms deliverability for everyone.
This policy is section 7 of our Terms of Service, reproduced here so it is easy to find and link to. The text below is the policy; this summary is not.
What agently.mx is for
- An agent that signs up for a service and reads the verification code or confirmation link.
- An agent that receives invoices, receipts or reports and acts on them.
- An agent that replies to a customer, supplier or colleague who wrote to it, or follows up in the same thread.
- An agent that sends an individual message someone expects or asked for, and holds anything sensitive for a person to approve first.
If what you are planning looks like a newsletter, a campaign, a list, or messages to people who never asked to hear from you, it does not belong on agently.mx.
The policy
This policy applies to all use of the Service, including use by your agents and by your own customers. We may update it under section 21.
7.1 Commercial email and consent
- Commercial electronic messages must comply with Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL), the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act, and every other law that applies to the message and its recipients. Under CASL that means, among other things, having express or implied consent, identifying yourself as the sender, and including a working unsubscribe mechanism that you honour within 10 business days.
- No unsolicited bulk email. No purchased, rented, scraped or harvested address lists, and no addresses generated by guessing or dictionary attacks.
- No cold outreach at a volume or in a pattern that produces complaint or bounce rates above the levels in section 7.4.
- Honour unsubscribe and opt-out requests, including the
List-Unsubscribeheader when it is enabled for an inbox.
7.2 Prohibited content and conduct
You may not use the Service to send, receive, store or facilitate:
- phishing, credential harvesting, or impersonation of any person, brand, organization or government body;
- malware, ransomware, spyware or links to them, or attachments designed to evade security scanning;
- fraud, scams, deceptive offers, fake invoices or payment redirection, or any business email compromise;
- child sexual abuse material or any content that sexualizes minors. We report it to Cybertip.ca, to law enforcement and, where it applies, to NCMEC, as the law requires;
- harassment, threats, stalking, doxxing, or content that promotes violence or hatred against people based on a protected characteristic;
- non-consensual intimate imagery;
- infringement or misappropriation of anyone's intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights;
- the illegal sale of goods or services, including controlled substances and weapons;
- election or voting disinformation, or impersonation of election officials;
- anything else that is unlawful where it is sent from or received.
7.3 Abuse of the platform and of other services
- Account farming. Do not create addresses in order to register large numbers of accounts on other services, to evade their limits, bans or verification, or to manipulate reviews, votes, referrals, promotions or rankings.
- Evading our controls. Do not split activity across accounts or workspaces to get around limits, suspensions or reputation controls, and do not create accounts after we have suspended you.
- Do not forge headers or misrepresent the origin of a message.
- Do not probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach its security or authentication, except under a written security-testing agreement with us or our published disclosure policy.
- Do not interfere with the Service or other customers, including through excessive load, denial-of-service activity, or by using webhooks to attack third parties.
- Do not resell bare access to the Service, or offer it as a general-purpose email or relay service, without our written agreement.
- Do not use the Service to build a competing product by copying our features or interfaces, or reverse engineer it except to the extent the law permits despite this restriction.
7.4 Sending reputation
To protect deliverability for all customers, we watch bounce and complaint rates for every account. If your account goes above thresholds we set (currently, roughly, a 3% bounce rate or a 0.08% complaint rate over a rolling window), we may pause sending automatically until you acknowledge the problem and fix it. A second pause within 30 days may lead to manual review, tighter limits or suspension. We may change these thresholds to follow mailbox-provider requirements.
7.5 Safety scanning
We, and providers acting for us, automatically scan mail and attachments for spam, malware, phishing and other abuse, and may block, quarantine or strip content that fails those checks. Our staff may review message content when it is needed to investigate abuse, respond to a report, fix a problem you asked us to look at, or meet a legal obligation.
7.6 Reporting abuse
Report abuse involving the Service to [email protected], with full message headers if you can. We aim to triage reports within one business day.
Enforcement
Most problems are handled automatically and in proportion: a single message can be blocked, an inbox paused, or outbound sending stopped for an account until the cause is fixed. For serious breaches, such as phishing, malware, fraud or the content listed in section 7.2, we may suspend or terminate an account immediately. Section 12 of the Terms describes suspension and termination in full.
